Who is behind Cobblestones Magazine?
Cobblestones Magazine was created by Jamie Saari-Alvarez, an independent entrepreneur who saw the need for a positive, Manitoba-focused magazine that gives some of Manitoba's most exciting people the opportunity to express themselves. The magazine depends solely on the support of its advertisers and is free for its readers. Writers, photographers, designers and columnists are all outsourced to keep overhead costs low. As a result Cobblestones Magazine is able to offer low advertising rates. See our rates page for information about advertising with Cobblestones.
How can you offer such inexpensive rates
for a full-colour, glossy magazine?
It's simple. We make a point of keeping overhead costs as low as possible so our customers get the most value for their advertising dollar. Cobblestones Magazine is not run from an extravagant office in a trendy, upscale neighbourhood. Advertisers are not be bombarded with expensive promotional pieces in an attempt to "woo" them away from other advertising mediums. By using this common-sense approach, we are able to offer better prices on advertising rates and marketing services than our competition. In many cases we use the same people employed at advertising agencies as many freelance in the evening and on weekends to earn extra money.
How do you select your columnists?
Our columnists are people we feel have something enlightening and interesting to say about Winnipeg's downtown. We are always open to suggestions and ideas for columnists and story ideas. Please feel email us at info@cobblestonescommunications. If your idea is used you will receive $100 in gift certificates from various downtown businesses and vendors.
How can I get Cobblestones Magazine to write
about my business, organization or project?
We are always open to interesting story ideas, but the only way to guarantee a story in Cobblestones Magazine is to purchase an advertorial. The advertorial can be submitted or written by one of our writers. An advertorial is normally between 300 and 500 words and includes one colour photograph (which also can be taken by one of our professional photographers). Feel free to contact us for further information and see our advertorial rates here.
Is Cobblestones Magazine a political magazine?
Cobblestones Magazine aims to keep neutral from any political affiliation. Columns submitted by various politicians are included because we believe that person (not necessarily their political party) has interesting insight that our readers would enjoy. We always welcome potential columnists to write us with ideas.
What is the magazine's target audience?
Cobblestones Magazine editorial content is aimed at a professional readership with disposable income. Our readers are professionals with a post-secondary education between the ages of 30 and 65. Our readers are of every demographic group, with a common theme of being interested in what is going on in Manitoba. We even have subscribers from New York City and other areas of the U.S.
