Jamie Saari-Alvarez is an award-winning journalist and photographer who has spent the majority of her career in Winnipeg. With a wide array of experience working at Winnipeg media outlets, Saari has a natural flair for finding fascinating stories that have not yet been told. Her background includes having worked for the Winnipeg Free Press, CBC Radio, the Winnipeg Sun, A-Channel, Transcontinental Weeklies, the University of Manitoba and a variety of niche magazines and trade publications. Saari is also the president of Cobblestones Communications, a firm specializing in public relations, event management, writing, editing, photography, layout & design and website design. Saari is a passionate advocate for children and a licensed foster parent. She is also a co-founder of a local organization dedicated to helping single parents who are raising their children without the emotional or financial support of the other parent. In her spare time, she enjoys taking in the arts, reading, travelling and spending time with her family.

Dr. Lloyd Axworthy was recently installed as the University of Winnipeg's sixth president. Over a political career spanning more than three decades, including more than 20 years in Parliament, Dr. Axworthy held several portfolios, including Foreign Affairs. Through his efforts, Canada became one of the leading proponents of a ban on landmines, for which Dr. Axworthy was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. He has helped establish an international criminal court, protocol on child soldiers and has received numerous prestigious awards for his international work. For the past three years, he has been the Director and CEO of the Liu Institute for Global Issues at The University of British Columbia. Dr. Axworthy was recently appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan as Special Envoy to Ethiopia and Eritrea.
